Delbert Inman

Coalgate —

Services for Delbert Inman, 94, a longtime Coalgate resident, are 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Coalgate. Dr. Mark Inman is officiating. Assisting are James Inman and Jeff Self. Burial follows at Non Cemetery.

Mr. Inman died Friday, July 26, 2013, at Oklahoma City. He was born May 14, 1919, in Coal County to James William “Dee” and Myrtle Troy Linton Inman

He was a retired rural mail carrier. For 30 years  Mr. Inman carried mail for Route 4 in Coal County. He was a member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives for six years and also served as speaker pro tempore. He was also a cattle rancher.

He was an active member and longtime deacon of Coalgate First Baptist Church. He was a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Coalgate Lions Club, hospital board, Chamber of Commerce, and Coal County Health Board and Dental Board. 

He married Lillian Beth “Betty” Tietz on Oct. 13, 1951, in Stillwater. She died in 2005

He was a World War II veteran with a Purple Heart and a Bronze Medal recipient. He attended Lone Star School and graduated from Coalgate High School.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Alice Inman, Genoa, Ill., Tom and Jeanna Inman, Lindsay, Andy and DaLana Inman, Stilwell, and James and Glenda Inman, Okarche; 12 grandchildren; 16 great -grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Truman and Charlene Inman, Wichita Falls, Texas, G.D. and Jodie Inman, Tucson, Ariz., B.L. and Shirley Inman, San Diego, Calif.; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James William “Dee” and Myrtle Troy Linton Inman; his wife, Betty Inman; a sister, Lois Inman Epperley; and two brothers, Eural Inman and Lloyd Inman.

Bearers are grandsons John Mark Inman, Jeffery Inman, Josh Inman, Joseph Inman, Samuel Inman, Luke Inman and Paul Inman.

Honorary  bearers are J.D. Smith, Johnny D. Ward, Gary Coffee, Davette  Cauthron, Bobby George Lee, Brett Baird, David Vaughn, Bob Thomas and Darryl Morgan.

The Inman family requests donations in lieu of flowers be sent to Fox Valley Baptist Association Foundation, PO Box 5778, Elgin, IL 60121.

Family night is 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Brown's Funeral Service, Coalgate.
