Memorial service for Barbara Arrington, 78, Ada, is 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home in Ada.
Mrs. Arrington died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at her home. She was born Jan. 13, 1934, in Hanford, Calif., to Gerald Jacobus and Marian Moyer Jacobus.
She married James Arrington on June 18, 1956, in Hanford, Calif. Barbara and James had attended 36 classes together in the last nine years in history and social science at East Central University in Ada.
Mrs. Arrington graduated from Hanford High School in Hanford, Calif., and graduated from San Jose State University in San Jose, Calif., with a bachelor’s degree in education. She worked as a special education teacher for many years.
She moved to the Ada area in 1998 from North Carolina.
Survivors include her husband, James Arrington of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Eric and Pamela Arrington, Rochester, N.Y., and Alan and Joellen Arrington, Richmond, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Robert Evensen, Sturgin Bay Wis.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Burton Jacobus, Ada, and James and Sue Jacobus, Santa Clara, Ca.; and nine grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Aura Lee Arrington; and her parents, Gerald and Marian Jacobus.
