Graveside services for Thelma Jean Sawyer, 90, Ada, are at 11 a.m. Monday at Maxwell Cemetery, with her niece, Joanne Sweet Walston, officiating.
Mrs. Sawyer died Friday, June 21, 2013, at a local nursing home. She was born Sept. 15, 1922, in Bebee to John L. and Myrtle Lamb Sweet. She was the eighth of 10 siblings.
She married Harry C. Sawyer in 1953. He died in 1980. Mrs. Sawyer was a nurse’s aide at Jan Frances Care Center and retired in 1980.
Survivors include three sons, Tom Sawyer and wife, Ava Orr, of Calvin, Louis Dunlap and wife, Nancy, of Ada, and Arnold Thogmartin and wife, Sandy, of Sand Springs, Calif.; three daughters, Barbara Smithwick of Ada, Arnetta Dunlap Brim of Alabama and Marlene Lee and husband, Joe, of Tulsa; grandchildren, Shane Sawyer and wife, Jill, Angie Sawyer, Becky Sawyer, Brian Bevers and wife, Jennifer, of Ada, Rickey Bevers and wife, Jessica, of South Carolina, Kevin Bevers and wife, Kenzie, of Ada, Lisa Blackwell and husband, Tim, Kelly Presley and husband, Michael, April Thogmartin, Janet Lee, David Lee and Paul Lee; great-grandchildren, Blake Bevers, Jake Bevers, Brianna Bevers, Makala Bevers, Shawn Bevers, Destin Bevers, Payton Bevers, Bryson Bevers and many more grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Woodrow “Woody” Sweet of San Francisco, who is 98; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry Sawyer; and nine brothers and sisters.
