Coleman Pennington

Ada —

Coleman Roy Pennington died on Aug. 14, 2013. He had suffered from diabetes and complications of congestive heart failure from quite a while.

He was born March 20, 1923, in Ada to his parents, William Alva and Vergie Inez Pennington. He is survived by his wife, daughter and son.

Coleman graduated from Vanoss School and attended business courses at ECU. He was a longtime PEC employee in different departments and capacities until his retirement in winter of 2012.

Coleman was a member of Southwest Church of Christ.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Smith Phillips Funeral Home. Viewing and visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home of Ada. 

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at Southwest Church of Christ, with Floyd Kaiser officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.    

Mr. Pennington is survived by one son, Michael Roy Pennington and his wife, Lindy, of Denver, Colo.; one daughter, Nelda Sue Arnold of Overland Park, Kan.; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Pennington; his second wife, Helen Pennington; his parents, William and Virgie Pennington; two brothers, D.N. Pennington and Avery Pennington; one great-grandchild, Madison Arnold; one son-in-law, Benny Arnold. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions will be appreciated to be made to South West Church of Christ Orphanage in Haiti.

Services are under the care and direction of Smith-Phillips Funeral Home, Ada.
