Elwin Edwin “Shorty” Thompson

Atwood —

Services for Elwin Edwin “Shorty” Thompson, 87, Atwood, are 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at Atwood Church of Christ in Atwood. Keith Warren is officiating. Burial follows at Atwood Cemetery.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 25, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home in Holdenville.  

Mr. Thompson died Oct. 23, 2013, in Holdenville. He was born March 7, 1926, in Sickles, Okla., to Erie Albert Thompson and Mattie Muzetta Hunt.  

He married Erma Jean Gregory June 15, 1948. The couple had four children, Bud, Skeeter, Elva and Shorty.

Mr. Thompson worked more than 35 years as a lineman; 27 years were for Peoples Electric Cooperative until his retirement in 1986.

Preceding him in death are his parents, sibling Clarence Thompson, grandchild Lindsey Cosper and in-laws Johnny Dean Mahan and Geraldene Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Erma of the home; children Buddy Thompson and wife Barbara of Atwood, Skeeter Thompson of Wilburton, Elva Cosper and husband George of Duncan, Shorty Thompson and wife Lenora of Davis, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; siblings Don Thompson and wife Darweta of Binger, Bessie Mahan of Binger, and Albert Thompson and wife Bert of Lawton; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Bearers are Gary DeShields, Mark Wallace, Bill Spray, Joe Moore, Shane Thompson and Lance Thompson.
