Curtis Hughey


Memorial services for Curtis Lee Hughey Jr., 75, of the Oakman area are 10 a.m. Monday at  Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Earl Hood officiating. Burial follows at Oakman Cemetery.

Mr. Hughey died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at his home. He was born Aug. 24, 1937, at Silver City, N.M., to Curtis Lee Hughey Sr. and Lela Elaine Jumper Hughey. He graduated from high school and attended college.

He married Loretta Mae Cross Aug. 8, 1975, in Ada. She died Nov. 18, 2011. Mr. Hughey was a mechanic and electrician and owned and operated Hughey Electric and Diesel. He served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his children, Robert L. Hughey and wife, Beth, of North Carolina, Debbie Hughey, Shawnee, Diana Lynn Hughey, Donnetta Smith and husband, Corky, Okemah, Carolyn Scott and husband, Roy, Ada, Eddie Brooks, Meridian, Patricia Loggins and husband, Winford, Clearview, Janet Shadinger and husband, Dan, Roff, and Harold Brooks, Konawa; his sisters, Jessie Baggett, Mangum and Annie Birdwell, Willow; his grandchildren, Christopher Smith and wife, Andrea, Jonathan Smith and wife, Miranda, Felecia Smith, Joshlynn Smith, Ashley Scott, Kristin Reneé Brooks, Waylon Neal and wife,  Danni, Calvin Neal and wife, April, Steven Neal and wife, Amanda, Toby Neal and Leslie Jones, Curtis Dean Pigg and fianceé, Lacey Ashley, Jimmie Lee Pigg, Nikki Hughey, Glenn Hughey, Timothy Heritage, Thomas Heritage, and Cody Hughey; 28 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Loretta Hughey; and a sister, Elaine Nelson.

Bearers will be Ronnie Brown, Corky Smith, Roy Scott, Dan Shadinger, Kenny Vogt, Jonathan Smith, Curtis Dean Pigg and Toby Neal. Honorary bearers will be Don Carmichael, Paul Ingram and Wayne Joplin.
