RENA COLE

ADA — Services for Rena Cole, 94, Ada, are 2 p.m. Monday at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Steve Wilburn and Bob Payne officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery in Ada.

Mrs. Cole died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at Ada. She was born April 30, 1913, at Roff to Stewart and Hortense Thompson.

She married Roy Ray Cole Nov. 10, 1934, at Roff. He died Sept. 7, 1989.

Mrs. Cole was a charter member of Oak Grove Indian Baptist Church. Her family donated the land for the church when it was built. She was a homemaker and lifelong resident of Ada.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Odis Ray Cole: a daughter, Mattie Lois Ross; and three brothers, Jim, Lee and Guy Austin.

Survivors include a son, Raymond Cole and his wife Marilyn, Fitzhugh; two daughters, Lena Cole and Geneva Cole, both of Ada; two grandchildren, Erin Alexander and her husband Jonathan, Ada, and Deborah Cole, Ada; and a son-in-law, Bob Ross, Ada.

Bearers are Charles Morrow, Jonathan Alexander, Jimmy Morgan, Jim Morgan, Dr. Jerry Morgan and Orlando Navarro.

Honorary bearers are Bob Ross, Gloria Jobe, Richay Jobe and Susan Stone.

KENNETH HARDEN

FITTSTOWN — Services for Kenneth Doyle Harden, 85, Fittstown, are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Chris Brannon and Tony Folger will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Harden died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007, at his home. He was born July 1, 1922, at Pontotoc, Okla., to Jay and Nora Hooper Harden. He attended Pontotoc Schools and graduated from Pontotoc High School in 1941. He served in the U. S. Marine Corp during World War II and was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He later attended Oklahoma A&M; College and graduated in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in animal science. He married Norine Garlington on July 5, 1944, at Pawnee.

Mr. Harden was a lifelong rancher in Pontotoc County. He was the caller of Ada “Hereford Whirlers” Square Dance Club for 50 years and helped organize square dance clubs in Durant, Broken Bow, Hugo, Stonewall, Sulphur and Konawa. He was active in community affairs where he served on the board of Fittstown Volunteer Fire Department as its treasurer for five years. He was also an active member of the Fittstown Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Norine Harden, of the home; a son, Marc Harden and wife Kyla, Ada; two granddaughters, Amberly Harden, Ada, and JulieAnn Harden, Republic, Mo.; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lance and Jackie Wise, St. Louis, Mo.

Bearers will be Robin Johns, Turk Barrett, Elvin Jacquess, Stanley Oglesby, Willard Rhynes and Jerry Winters.

Honorary bearer will be Tommy Vass.

Mr. Parks died Oct. 18, 2007, at Pauls Valley.
