Mary Kate Morris

Pauls Valley —

Mary Kate Morris, 87,  died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013. She was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Lockport, La., to Frank Kirby Cole and Bessie Leonard Higginbotham Cole. 

Mrs. Morris was raised in various Texas towns from Longview to Mexia and many places in between, as her father traveled around the state working contract jobs in the early Texas oil fields. After attending Texas Women’s University, she later moved to Oklahoma, where she lived the majority of her adult life, first in Ada, then in Pauls Valley.  

She was a volunteer library coordinator at Donahue Senior Apartments.

Survivors include her four children, Ben Morris, Bruce Morris, Margee Ratliff and Brown Morris; two nieces and one nephew, Melanie Cole, Margaret Rabito and Steve Daughdrill; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  

The family will be having a celebration of life in the near future in Mexia, Texas.  No local services will be held.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Katie Moody Heart of Lifecare Foundation, 2411 Springer Drive, Norman, OK 73069 or Pauls Valley Care Center Resident Christmas Fund, c/o Ella Mae Winkler, administrator, 1413 S. Chickasaw, Pauls Valley, OK 73075.
