Services for Herman Eddie Mitchell, 66, of Ada, are 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Central Church of Christ, Ed Poblete will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at an Oklahoma City hospital. He was born May 3, 1947 in Muleshoe, Texas to Robert James and Velma Pearl McCarty Mitchell. He graduated from high school in Texas and later graduated from Court Reporter/Paralegal school.

He married Pattie Ann Knight on February 25, 1981 in Ada, Oklahoma. Mr. Mitchell had worked as a court reporter and paralegal and later he was employed as a Respiratory Therapist in Oklahoma City. He was a member of Central Church of Christ in Ada, a member of the Pontotoc County Sherriff Reserves and a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Previously, he had served as the Fire Chief for the Ashland, Alabama Volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Pattie Mitchell, of the home; two daughters, Tessa Rumery and her husband Kenneth of Atoka and Michelle Smith and her husband Jeremy Smith, Sr. of Ada; a son, Jonathon Mitchell of Atoka; four grandchildren, Mallorie Ramsey, Marrissa Jones, Cassandra Rumery and Jeremy Smith, Jr.; his two great grandchildren, Brantly Peevyhouse and Zaydin Parsons; and two sisters, Bonnie Fulbright of Lubbock, TX, and Doris Brogdon of Dallas, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Bill Mitchell and James Mitchell.

Bearers will be Kenneth Rumery, Hugh J. Brasher, Lucas Perry, Jeremy Smith, Sr., Robert Ware and Robert Miksits. Honorary bearers will be Jeremy Smith, Jr. and Nick Nolan.
