ADA — Services for Joseph Cornell (J.C.) Hawkins, 69, Ada, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Chickasaw Community Center, the Rev. Larry Hawkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Hickory Hill Cemetery.  Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery. A wake service will be Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Hawkins died Monday, Feb. 7, 2011,  at a local hospital. He was born May 3, 1941, in Ada to Sam and Bertha Milligan Hawkins. He attended Ada schools and graduated from Chilocco High School.

He married Martha Ann Stick Aug. 24, 1996. Mr. Hawkins was a custodian at Carl Albert Hospital and also the Pontotoc County Health Department. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of High Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Ann Hawkins, of the home; two grandchildren he reared, Kimberly Walton, Seminole and Nicholas Walton, Ada; three step-children, Thalia Walton and her husband Jeff, Ada, Cynthia Walton and her husband Chris, Ada, and Darla Walton and her husband Ron, Shawnee; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two aunts, Geneva Ducote and Ruby McKinney; and an uncle, Jack Milligan.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richmond and Caroline Milligan.

Bearers will be Randy Williams, Terry Stick, Freddie Hill, Chris Vann, Ron Ahhaitty and Jeff McDonald. Honorary bearers will be Tom Cooper, Daniel Thomas, Roger Stick, Houston Stick, and Ervin Walton
