Services for Luther Pittman, 85 longtime resident of Pontotoc County, are 2 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2013, at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, Ada. Leroy Kerbo is officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery, Ada.

Mr. Pittman died May 15, 2013. He was born in Pontotoc County on July 15, 1927, to Hiram and Ona Laura Armstrong Pittman. He was the youngest of four children and attended Pontotoc County School.  

Luther married Ruby Lee Wright Sept. 29, 1944, in Fittstown. The couple had three daughters.

Mr. Pittman worked in the Kaiser Shipyard in California during the war.  In 1952, he went to work for Ford Motor Company. He returned to Pontotoc County in 1953 and began his career with Todd Construction Company until his retirement in 1980s.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Vernon, Everett, and Herschel.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby of the home; three daughters, Peggy Bratcher-Vickers and husband Robert of Frisco, Texas, Anna Matthews of Pauls Valley, and Kathy Herron and husband Steve of Shawnee; grandchildren Kristin Wood, Thomas Bratcher, Elizabeth Wood, Devah Bratcher-Pittman, Amelia Petersen, Vincent Matthews; great-grandchildren Deidra, Wesley, Sarah, Amilia, and Flint and one on the way.
