Calvin Laxton

WARR ACRES —

Services for Calvin Laxton, 89, Warr Acres, formerly of Ada, are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial follows at Maxwell Cemetery.

Mr. Laxton died Friday, July 5, 2013,  at an Oklahoma City hospice. He was born Nov. 30, 1923, at Burr Valley to John and Julie Myers Laxton. 

He married Christine A. Lorene Massey on Nov. 30, 1946, at Coalgate. She died Aug. 27, 1995. Mr. Laxton was a supervisor for Ideal Cement Plant, known now at Holcim in Ada, until his retirement. He was also a farmer. He was of the Baptist faith and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Jan. 13, 1943, until being honorably discharged Feb. 16, 1946.

Survivors include three daughters, Karen Sue Laxton Sliger of Barry, Texas, Christine (Tina) Eveline Laxton Wood of Warr Acres, and Janette Lee Laxton Gilpatrick-Jones of Bethel Acres; one sister, Gracie Duty of Stonewall; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Louise Laxton Phillips, on Feb. 16, 1997.

Bearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
