Ada — Services for R. B. Burnett, 87, of Joplin, Mo., formerly of Ada are 2 p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Bob Langston will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Ada. 

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mr. Burnett died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at a Joplin, Mo., nursing home. He was born July 31, 1926, in Summerfield, Okla., to Pat and Sadie Slocum Burnett. He grew up and graduated from Fitzhugh High School and attended East Central University in Ada. 

He married Audrey E. Beasley. R. B. retired from the United States Air Force as a MSgt. He served his country for 24 years, and was a World War II Veteran surviving the invasion of Okinawa. After his retirement from the USAF, R. B. worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 20 years before retiring. 

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Audrey Burnett, of the home; three sons, Randell Burnett and wife Cheryl, Ronald Burnett and Bryant Burnett and wife Kimberly; four grandsons; two granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents and two brothers.
