Ada — Jimmy Pettit

ASHER — Services for Jimmy Pettit, 89, also known as Harold Prentiss Pettit, will be 1 p.m. today at Avoca Church of Christ north of Asher. Burial will follow at Avoca Cemetery. Steven Fowler officiating.

He died Jan. 11, 2014.

Mr. Pettit was born June 30, 1924 to James Fletcher Pettit and Ethel Fairy Jeffrey Pettit.

He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 through 1945. He trained as a fighter pilot in World War II, and also trained selected West Point cadets at Andrews Air Force Bace in Washington, D.C.

He is survived by daughters Jesse Judy Kaye Pettit, Oklahoma City, Paula June Pettit Skender, Asher, Rhonda Diana Pettit Fowler and husband Charles, Ada, and Leslie Maria Pettit May and husband John of Oklahoma City; brother Alva Pettit, Bethel, Okla.; sister Joanna Pettit Reeves, Gainesville, Texas; grandchildren Steven and Lana Fowler, Alpina, Ark., John Paul and Randi Skender, Asher, Daniel Fletcher and Jenne Skender, Salina, Okla., Elizabeth Marie Skender, Lexington, Anna Lisa Skender, Ada, Jared Vogt, Ada and Jacob Vogt, Ada; great-grandchildren Ariel Fowler, Emily Welch, Amelia Vogt, Austin Middlebrook, Alexandrea Middlebrook, Gracie Moore, Hudson Skender, Mitchell Skender, Levi Skender and Rhett Skender.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Aleta Modean Sanders Pettit, his parents, brother Kennith Pettit, and grandson Jonathan Nicholas Pettit Vogt.

Michael Englehaupt III

ADA — Services for Michael Andrew Engelhaupt III, of Calera, Okla., will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel with Kellos Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Smith Phillips Funeral Home.

He was born Aug. 26, 1974 to Vicky Thurstun in Ft. Worth, Texas. Mr. Engelhaupt died Jan. 10, 2014.

He graduated high school in Denison, Texas and was employed at Sam’s Club in Sherman, Texas.

Survivors include his parents, Vicky and Gary Thurston of the home, cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunt, and many relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bonnie and Loren Pete Brown and an uncle.
