Roy C. “Bob” Byford

Stratford — Services for Roy C. “Bob” Byford, 97, of Stratford will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Stratford First Baptist Church. The Rev. Marvin Knox and Johnny Burnett will officiate. Burial will follow in McGee Cemetery in Stratford. 

Mr. Byford died Monday, June 30, 2014, at Sulphur. He was born Jan. 31, 1917, in Stratford to James Robert and Norman May Byford. He married Alma Syble (Jones) in Pauls Valley on Sept. 29, 1938. They lived in the Stratford area. 

Mr. Byford served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945 during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church, American Legion, Disabled Veterans and AKC Boston Terrier’s Association. 

Survivors include one son, Roy Byford and wife, Judy, of Stratford; two daughters, Sharon Hatter and husband, Ruben, of Stratford, and Wendy Allen and husband, Eddie, of Ada; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma, on Aug. 23, 2004; two brothers; and two half-sisters. 

Bearers will be grandsons.
