James Leonard “Gub” Webb

Funeral Services for James Leonard “Gub” Webb, 97, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the First Baptist Church of Davis with Clay Shannon officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Webb was born May 9, 1914, in Cherokee County, Ala., to  James Newton  and Sarah Elizabeth Pettyjohn Webb. He died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, in Pauls Valley.

Mr. Webb and Minnie Lee Pursley were married in 1938.  After her death in 1966, Mr. Webb married Methel Roberts in 1967. She died in 1998.

He was preceeded in death by his wife, Minnie; wife, Methel, his brother, Jack Webb, two sisters, Thelma Clark and Nanny Bridges; grandson Chad Webb and granddaughter, Cindy Webb.

Mr. Webb spent his working career in the oil industry. He had several jobs in the oil-field including servicing wells and pumping.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne Webb and wife Betty of Davis, Roy Webb  and wife Rilla of Ada, and Herchel Roberts and  wife Cathy of Dallas Texas.; six grandchildren, Bobby Webb and wife Brenda, Tabby Pletcher and husband John, Shelly Sweat and husband Gary, Laura Kinard and husband Eddie, and John and Jeff Roberts; six great-grandchildren, Logan Webb, Michael Jennings, Bethany, Forest and Christian Sweat and Jeni Moore; five great-great grandchildren, Brody and Jagger Jennings and Noah, Beckett and Cathlina Roberts; one nephew and four nieces as well as many cousins and friends.

  Bearers will be Bobby Webb, John Pletcher, Michael Jennings, Kevin Birch, Eddie Ray Tomlinson, Bobby Pope, Kevin Rose and Monte “Goober” Holland. 

Honorary bearers will be Bob Brown, Bill Connell, Ernest Kirk, Dora and Shelly White, Ed Wiley, Howard Mitchell, Lynn Dickinson and Debbie Hardy.
