Services for Lee J. Skaggs, 88, of Ada are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel. Floyd Kaiser will officiate. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the cemetery.
Mr. Skaggs died Saturday, July 27, 2013, at his home.
He was born January 20, 1925, in Wewoka to Lonnie Newton and Emaline Henderson Skaggs. He graduated from Latta High School and later joined the U. S. Army. He served as an Army medic during World War II. He was honorably discharged as a master sergeant.
Following his military service, he worked in New York, N.Y., and Ada in finance. He later worked in Oklahoma City where he retired from Dayton Tire Company, later known as Bridgestone/Firestone.
He married Sandra Sue Brockett Jan. 31, 1969, in Sulphur.
Mr. Skaggs was a longtime member of the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Sue Skaggs, of the home; one son, Richard Lee Skaggs; a daughter, Sandra Ann Marsh of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren, Robyn Folmar and Shawn Folmar of Oklahoma City; three great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Brockett and family of Ada; sister-in-law Shirley Ann Perry and family of Ada; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Horton, Sam and Melburn Skaggs, all of Ada; five sisters, Wilma Morgan, Sarah Dew and Argie Steele, all of Ada, Margie McGuffey, Lodi, Calif., and Geneva Thompson, Oklahoma City; and several nieces and nephews.
Bearers will be fellow members of the Southwest Church of Christ in Ada: David Hendricks, Scott Estes, Jack Frye, Eugene Cannon and Richard Howard.
The family says those who wish may make memorials to the Haiti Orphanage in care of Southwest Church of Christ, 505 W. 17th, Ada, OK 74820.
