Wilda Morris

Stratford —  

Services for Wilda Morris, 100, Stratford, are 10:30 a.m. Thursday April 11, 2013, at Stratford First Baptist Church, the Revs. Bill Rea and Keith Stevens officiating. Burial follows at McGee Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-6 p.m. at Pickard Funeral Home Stratford.

Mrs. Morris died April 8, 2013, at an Ada care center. She was born March 20, 1913, at West Plains, Mo., to Henry and Nancy Colbert Endicott.

She and her family made their way to Oklahoma when she was 5 years old. She went to school at Byford, and Stratford. She gave her heart to Jesus at the age of 14.

She and Elvis Morris were married in a double wedding ceremony along with Wilda’s brother, Golden Endicott, and his fiancé, Maxine, in Stratford on Dec. 30, 1933.

Wilda and her husband made their home on a farm south west of Stratford, where they raised three children, horses, bees, and cattle. She was a member of Stratford First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband Elvis, one grandson, Rodney Wood, one great-grandson Jake Bittle, two brothers, Orville and Golden Endicott, and one sister Vada Parsons.

Bearers are grandsons Keith Bittle, Larry Morris, Donnie Morris, Jim York, Shannon Tice, Kent Clary, and Todd Smith. Honorary Pallbearers, Roy Watson, Ralph Dykeman Jr. Adam York, Dustin Morris and Avry Wood.

Survivors inlude a son and daughter-in-law, LaDon and Patsy Morris, Stratford; two daughters and sons-in-law, Norma and J.L. Rhodes, Ada, Vicki and Tom Pickard, Stratford; two sisters, Gladys Cole, Allen, Edna Wootten, Fresno, Calif.; grandchildren, Donna and  Jim York, Ada, Keith and Debbie Bittle, Stratford, Larry and Susan Morris Stratford, Donnie Morris, Stratford, Tomi and  Shannon Tice, Stratford, Angie Brown, Pink, Denise and Kent Clary, Lindsay, Todd and Kristi Smith, Coalgate; 17 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
