An intimate family service for Monica Dale Moffitt, 76, was held Friday Sept. 6, 2013, in the chapel of Smith-Phillips Funeral Home in Ada.

Mrs. Moffitt died Sept. 4, 2013. She was born March 23, 1937,  in Hugo to Leslie Lyle Moses and Mary W. "Bill" Moses.

She married Eldon Moffitt Feb. 21, 1958 in Charleston, S.C.

She graduated from High School in Hugo in 1957. She received her associate of arts degree from Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa in 1978. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from Philips University in Enid in 1980 and finished her education with her Master’s Degree in Education from East Central University in Ada in 1993.

Mrs. Moffitt retired from education in May 1999, after serving as an library medial specialist for 20 years. She was a librarian at Chisholm High School in Enid, Plainview Elementary/Middle School in Ardmore and Latta schools. She was a member of the Pontotoc County Retired Teacher’s Association, Oklahoma Education Association and National Education Association.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Eldon H. Moffitt; five daughters, Allison Turner and husband Wayne of Marlow, Donna Smith and partner Craig Smith of Pauls Valley, Diane Mays and partner Curt Gajewski of Pauls Valley,  Jody Miller of Roff, and Marion Meadows and husband Daryl of Ardmore; seven grandchildren, Kevin Pickett and wife Amber Pickett of Pauls Valley,  Jeff Cox of Marlow, TJ Cox and wife Krystal Cox of Marlow, Michael Cox and wife Sarah Cox of Marlow, Chad Mays of Roff, LaTisha Miller of Roff, and Monica Miller of Roff; eight great-grandchildren, Mekayla Cox, Curtis Cox, Hannah Cox, Ethan Gonzalez, Eli Pickett, Kash Pickett, Garret Cox, and Westin Cox; a sister, Helen Norwood of Palm Springs, Calif.; several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Moffitt was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Rex Evitts and Robert Moses; a sister, Della Smith; and a grand-daughter, Lauren Pickett.
