Geneva Lenora Deering

Services for Geneva Lenora Deering, 89, Ada, are 2 p.m. Friday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. John Haynes officiating. Burial is at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family is receiving friends from 6-8  p.m. Thursday at Criswell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Deering died Monday, March 25, 2013, at a local nursing home. She was born Feb. 20, 1924, at Catoosa to William A. and Ella Janie Glance Nease. She and her family moved to this area when she was 2 years old from Catoosa. She attended Stratford schools.

She married Dale Morris Deering on Sept. 28, 1940, in Ada. He preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1995, in Ada. Mrs. Deering worked at Neil’s Shoes, Economy Shoes and later was a dietary aide at Valley View Regional Hospital Dietary Kitchen from 1967 until retiring in 2000. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Ada and served for many years as nursery coordinator. She was active in the church’s senior adult choir, the Melody Makers. 

Survivors include her children, Janease "Jan" Hudson and her husband Ken, David Deering and his wife Debbie, Francis Atkisson and her husband Jim, Myles Deering and his wife Pam, and Brad Deering and his wife Reneé; a sister, Mary Armstrong; brother, Ladue Nease; her grandchildren, Laura Brown and husband Terry, Ken Hudson Jr. and wife Rita, Lisa Souza and husband Alex, Darci Gregory and husband J.B., Drew Deering and wife Katie, Daniel Deering and wife Heather, Taylor Deering and Kendall Deering; 16 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale Deering; a granddaughter, Mindy Atkisson; grandson, Brandon Atkisson; sister, Beatrice Patterson-Rejino; and two brothers, Buddy Nease and Richard Nease.

Bearers are her grandsons, Daniel Deering, Ken Hudson Jr., Alex Souza, Marcos Souza, Drew Deering, Derek Hill, Loagan Hudson, Alex Tucker, Zac Tucker, Nick Tucker and Braedan Hudson.

The family says those who wish may make memorials to The Gideon Memorial Bible Chairman, P. O. Box 1821, Ada, OK 74821-1821.
