Ada — STANLEY FOSTER

ARDMORE, Okla. — Services for Stanley Eastman Foster, 74, are Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest Funeral Home, Ardmore. Burial follows at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Mr. Foster died Dec. 17, 2013, in Norman.  He was born May 20, 1939, to Dewey Foster and Julia (Colbert) Foster.

Mr. Foster graduated as president of the class of 1957 at Mannsville High School.  He also served as justice of the peace in Carter County. Stanley went to work for the Chickasaw Nation in 1976, serving in various positions over the years until the time of his death. His position was assistant to the governor.  He worked for the Chickasaw Nation for more than 35 years.  He was a member of Elk Lodge, JC’s past president 1971, Ardmore Shriners Club past president 1989, Masonic Blue Lodge 25, in Lone Grove, Ardmore Charity Club, and chairman of Chickasaw Nation Revenge of the Bulls.

He married Donna Turner Dec. 30, 1976, in Tishomingo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dean Foster and Harry Foster.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Foster of the home; sons, Steven Warren and fiance Jeanie Chapman of Pauls Valley, and Michael Todd Warren and wife Cricket, of Pauls Valley; grandchildren, Matthew Warren and Maggie Warren, of Pauls Valley; two brothers, Charles Foster of Azel, Texas, and John Foster and wife Janene of Allen, Texas.

Bearers are Doug Loder, Don Wallace, Sam Daube, Charles Williams, Billy Stromberg, and Guy Bacon. Honorary bearers are David Hatton, Gov. Bill Anoatubby, Gov. Overton James, Lt. Gov. Jefferson Keel.  Fred Hightower, Hadley Barrett and Bennie Beutler.

LORENE COPE

ADA — Services for Lorene Cope, 92, Ada, are 2 p.m. Friday at Central Church of Christ,  Bud Ross and Tyler Cope officiating. Burial follows at Rosedale Cemetery.

Ms. Cope died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at a local nursing home. She was born May 24, 1921,  in Ada to Homer Stilwell and Vetrice Nichols Stilwell.

She attended grade school at Pickett and completed high school at Ada.  Ms. Cope also attended East Central University. She worked as a book keeper.  Ms. Cope was an active member of the Central Church of Christ in Ada.

Survivors include two daughters, Charlene Smith of Tulsa, and Anita Martin and her husband Tony of Phoenix, Ariz.; one son, Bennie Cope and his wife Valerie of Ada; seven grandchildren, Ben Smith of Oklahoma City, Lindsay Smith of Tulsa,  Dean Martin of Arizona, Alicia Perkins of Austin, Texas, Katelyn Tyler of Stillwater,  Tyler Cope of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Susan Cope of Ada; three great-grandchildren, Preston Perkins of Austin, Texas, Chase Perkins of Austin, Texas, and McKennon Tyler of Stillwater, as well as many other friends and relatives.

Ms. Cope was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Eldon Stilwell and Carl Stilwell, son-in-law, Dwight Smith, and great-grandson, Austin Martin.

Pallbearers will be Bob Hester, Bill Adams, Todd Crabtree, Bill Nelson, Wayne Roark, and Corry Tyler.

CRICKETT SMITH

ADA— Graveside services for Crickett Guffey Smith, 83, Ada, are 1p.m. Friday at Byrd’s Prairie Cemetery in Tupelo, the Rev. John Haynes officiating.

Mrs. Smith died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, in Ada. She was born April 4, 1930, in Vidette, Ark., to Gardner Guffey and Eddie Johnson Guffey. She attended schools in Arkansas and Tupelo.

She married Rudolph Smith Jr. Feb. 11, 1949. He died in 1976. Mrs. Smith was a food service supervisor at Jan Frances Nursing Home for 13 years.

Survivors include two sons, Howard Smith of Ada and Tommy Joe Smith of Milburn; three sisters, Fannie Jennings of Ada, Leona Landrith of Sacramento, Calif., and Irene Stonecipher of Ada; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sandra Miller in 1977; four brothers, Jack, Johnny, H.G. and Curtis; and a sister, Alice Poole.

LEE HENSLEY

ADA —  Services for Delbert Leland Hensley, 81, Ada, were Wednesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Jimmy Hoffman officiating.  Graveside interment will be 10 a.m. Friday at Rosedale Cemetery.

Mr. Hensley died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, at a local hospital. He was born Dec. 19, 1931, at Weleetka to Delbert Hensley and Helen Bernard Hensley.

He graduated from the Weleetka High School.  

He married Joyce Elaine Robb Aug. 21, 1987, in California. He owned and operated Hamburger King in Ada, and also owned and operated Aaron Manor Residential Care in Ada.  He was also a salesman at Service Chevrolet. He was a member of Homer Baptist Church.  He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hensley of the home; three sons, Ben Hensley of California, Steve Hensley of California, and Ron Hensley of California; two daughters, Cheryl Hall of Arkansas, and Shelly Alejandre of California, and one stepson, Brian Rasmussen of Pickett, and one sister, Delberta Kefier of California; and 10 grandchildren

Bearers will be his sons, Ben Hensley, Steve Hensley and Ron Hensley. Honorary bearers will be Glen Walker, Dwight Hart, Billy Huffman, Harral Harbin, Kenneth Kirby, and Dewey McDonald.
