The second race Oct. 4 program at Blue Ribbon Downs was the first of four trial heats for the Pot O Gold Futurity to be held in two weeks, as a field of nine 2-year-old paints hit the track in an effort to qualify to the finals. Breaking from post-position seven, Corys Doll got off to a clean break and was able to find her stride and power home to a length victory over even money favorite Kiss This Chrome and Okey Dokey Treasure. Making just her fifth career start, Corys Doll has now had two finishes inside the top three, and has bankrolled more than $3,600. A filly by Judys Lineage, Corys Doll rebounded nicely from her last start, where the filly narrowly missed a victory, losing by just a head to Moonlight Jazz. Owned by Marvin Barnes from Ada and Cory Whittle from Aubrey, Texas, and trained by Carl White, Cody Smith guided the filly to victory in a final time of 20.19 seconds over the fast track.
