Fatal Accident Closes SH3W

Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials are on the scene of a fatal accident at state Highway 3W and County Road 1440 outside Ada. Troopers temporarily closed state Highway 3W ahead of the intersection with County Road 1440 this morning while emergency crews worked to extract a victim from the wreckage.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials are on the scene of a fatal accident at state Highway 3W and County Road 1440 northwest of Galey in Pontotoc County.

Troopers temporarily closed state Highway 3W ahead of the intersection with County Road 1440 earlier this morning while fire and EMS personnel worked to extract one of the victims from the wreckage.

Traffic is moving slowly on state Highway 3W again as Troopers and medical examiners continue to investigate.

Preliminary information indicates the accident appears to be the result of a head-on collision. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and another airlifted to the University of Oklahoma Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

The identities of those involved have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
