Two people were injured, one critically, Friday in a head-on collision in southern Pontotoc County.
The wreck occurred at 6:28 a.m. on County Road 1680 just west of County Road 3620, about three-and-a-half miles southeast of Fittstown.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Alan Fortner said 30-year-old Philip A. Barbe of Tupelo was driving a 1986 Ford F350 pickup east when he went left of center and crashed into a 2002 Ford Escape driven west by 41-year-old Torrie A. Sanders of Stonewall.
Fortner said Sanders was taken by Air Evac Lifeteam to OU Presbyterian Hospital in Oklahoma City where she was admitted in critical condition with head, arm, leg, external and internal injuries.
Barbe was taken by private vehicle to Mercy Hospital in Ada where he was treated for head and external injuries and released, Fortner said.
He listed the cause of the wreck as “left of center in a no passing zone.”
Mercy EMS, firefighters from Ada, Fittstown and Stonewall, Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies and Pontotoc County Emergency Management also responded.
