A Stonewall resident and an Oklahoma City resident died Wednesday from injuries received during a wreck in Pottawatomie County.
The wreck occurred at 6:26 p.m. on U.S. 177 near Ruggles Road, about 3.75 miles south of Tecumseh, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Kyle Winrow.
Winrow said 37-year-old Gloria Sanchez of Oklahoma City was driving a 2006 KIA Spectra north on U.S. 177 when she attempted to pass another northbound vehicle in a no-passing zone and crashed head-on into a 2015 Ford Escape driven south by 49-year-old Rosemary Davis of Stonewall.
Davis was pronounced dead at the scene from internal injuries, Winrow said.
Sanchez was taken by REACT EMS to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Shawnee where she was pronounced dead from internal injuries.
Winrow said seat belts were in use. He listed the cause of the wreck as “left of center in a marked zone.”
