Political science students at East Central University will be working in the Westside neighborhood of Ada from April 12 until April 16 during the hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Westside neighborhood is the quadrant of Ada West of Broadway and North of Main Street. Residents who have work to be completed by students should call Dr. Christine Pappas at (580) 559-5640 to arrange for students to work. Projects to be completed include yard work, mowing, trimming hedges, clearing out debris or minor household help.
On Tuesday, April 13 and Thursday, April 15, students will be hosting a Kid’s Camp at Cornerstone Church, located at 9th and Oak Street. All school-aged kids are invited to attend this free camp. ECU students will be leading games and craft projects. The camp will last from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Please call Pappas to reserve places for your children.
This is the second year for the Westside Project. The aim of the Week of Work is to continue building political community in the Westside neighborhood.
The events of the week are being planned by a special service learning section of American Government, taught by Pappas. Work will be carried out by these 43 students, members of Pi Sigma Alpha, the political honor society.
