VANOSS — Landon Sloan, a fourth-grade student at Vanoss Elementary School, recently won second place in state for his Poison Control Poster.

National Poison week was celebrated at the Oklahoma State Capitol March 19-25. Landon and his family were honored at the State Capitol where former Gov. George Nigh presented an award and $50 savings bond. Landon and his family also traveled to Oklahoma Children’s Hospital for a pizza party and a tour of the hospital.

This year, Landon also won the Oklahoma Traffic Safety Poster Contest, Agriculture in our Community Poster Contest and State of Oklahoma contest.

When Landon’s brother, Weston Sloan, was in fourth grade, he also won the Oklahoma Heritage Poster contest and the Oklahoma Dental Association Poster Contest where he received awards from Gov. Brad Henry. Landon’s teacher is Jane Gray and his principal is Kathy Wellington.

Landon’s parents are Michelle Childress and Hartley Sloan. His siblings are Clint and Weston Sloan and Steven and Savannah Childress. His grandparents are S.L. and Shirley Roberson and Hoyt and Bobbye Sloan, all of Ada.
