ADA — Valley View Regional Hospital is hosting a free skin cancer screening clinic from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday, May 6, in the Valley View Cancer Treatment Center.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in this country, sponsors say. Approximately one million Americans develop some form of skin cancer each year. But the good news is that skin cancer is usually easily treated if detected in early stages.

If you have ever sustained a serious sunburn or tan regularly either by laying-out or tanning bed you are at an increased risk for skin cancer, sponsors say. Many skin cancers develop with different symptoms, but unusual moles or skin lesions are visible symptoms that should be checked by a professional.

This clinic offers a one-on-one exam with a Valley View physician. There will also be plenty of skin care education available with information on prevention and care. Plenty of door prizes will be given away too. There are limited appointments available so register early.
