7-5 stonewall siren.jpg

Stonewall recently received a grant to replace its tornado sirens. The tornado sirens have not been updated since the 1940s. The new tornado siren will cover a larger area and has public address capabilities and battery back ups. In May 2010 tornados were approaching Stonewall, emergency management activated the sirens and only two out of four worked. Living in tornado alley it is imperative to have adequate tornado sirens for the safety of area residents. Stonewall Police Chief Jason Teel, pictured with the new siren, acquired a REAP grant to purchase new state-of-the-art tornado sirens.
