Three people died Saturday in a three-vehicle wreck in Pontotoc County, a few miles southeast of Asher.
The crash occurred at 1:47 a.m. on state Highway 3W, 17 miles northwest of Ada.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Keith Teel said 53-year-old Richard L. Campbell of Midwest City was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup west when he crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a 1997 GMC pickup.
The Dodge pickup then rolled an undetermined number of times and hit a third pickup, a 2013 Ford F150, Teel said.
Campbell and a passenger who was thrown from the vehicle during the collision, 51-year-old Timothy L.R. Campbell of Newella, were pronounced dead at the scene from injuries received in the wreck.
The driver of the GMC pickup, 56-year-old Dathan R. Lane of Asher, was also pronounced dead at the scene from injuries received in the wreck.
A third passenger in the Dodge pickup, a 16-year-old boy from Midwest City, was injured. He was taken by Air Evac Lifeteam to Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, where he was treated and released with a leg injury.
The driver of the Ford, 48-year-old Michael B. Goltz of Oklahoma City, was taken by Mercy EMS to Mercy Hospital Ada, where he was treated and released with arm and leg injuries.
Teel said the cause of the wreck is under investigation.
Firefighters from Ada and Oil Center, Pontotoc County sheriff’s deputies and Chickasaw Lighthorse police also responded.
