ADA — Ada Republican Todd Thomsen retained a two-vote lead in the House District 25 after Friday’s recount in Pontotoc and McClain counties.

Thomsen leads Democratic candidate Darrell Nemecek in the race to take over the seat vacated by state Rep. Bob Plunk, D-Ada. Plunk could not seek re-election because of term limits.

The Pottawatomie County precinct in District 25 will be counted Monday.

Nemecek had led Thomsen by two votes after the ballots were counted Nov. 7. But Thomsen filed for a recount and then protested four ballots in Hughes County. Those ballots were thrown out, putting Thomsen ahead by two votes.

Both Nemecek and Thomsen picked up four votes in Friday’s recount.

Nemecek, if he loses the recount, could file an appeal in the Hughes County decision Thursday that took away four ballots.

The recount at Pottawatomie County Courthouse in Shawnee begins at 11:30 a.m.
