An Ada teen was arrested after he allegedly shot a man over the weekend.
Darrian Ramirez, 15, was arrested and is faces charges as a youthful offender. An affidavit was filed Monday.
The shooting occurred in the overnight hours Saturday/Sunday at a residence in the 400 block of East 10th Street.
Police responded to the residence at 2:21 a.m. Sunday in reference to a man being shot.
“On arrival, I approached the front door of the residence and observed a large amount of blood on the porch,” Ada Police Officer Ryan Collier said in a report. “I observed a male subject, later identified as Trenton Harry, lying inside the doorway of the residence bleeding heavily from his right thigh. I observed a belt and towel wrapped around the wound, but the blood flow was still heavy. I applied pressure to the femoral artery to stop the bleeding until I was relieved by paramedics.”
Harry, 33, was taken by Mercy EMS to Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada, then taken to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.
A spokesperson with OU Medical Center said Harry Ramirez has since been discharged.
Witnesses at the scene identified Ramirez as the alleged shooter.
“Detective Brian Engel was told that earlier in the night, Ramirez had come to the residence and was intoxicated,” APD Detective Kathi Johnston said in the affidavit. “Ramirez got into a fight with another juvenile male at the residence and Harry stepped in to break up the fight. Harry allegedly pushed Ramirez to the ground, at which time Ramirez left.”
Witnesses said a short time later, Ramirez returned with a gun in the waistband of his pants and was looking for Harry, according to the affidavit.
Harry, who was reportedly on the porch with several others at the residence, jumped up and tried to run inside when Ramirez allegedly fired a shot.
“The (bullet) ultimately went through the door and hit Harry in the right leg just above the knee,” Johnston said. “Ramirez … took off running southbound. Witnesses described the gun as a black semi-automatic .40 caliber pistol.”
Police found a spent .40 caliber shell in the driveway of the residence, Johnston said.
Ramirez was later arrested on suspicion of shooting with intent to kill.
The district attorney’s office has not yet decided what charge will be filed.
