SULPHUR — Chickasaw National Recreation Area will be hosting its centennial celebration Saturday at Bromide Pavilion at Sulphur. The event will consist of several activities geared towards celebrating the fact that the recreation area has been used by families throughout the country.
Originally named Platt National Park in 1906 after U.S. Senator Orville Hitchcock Platt, it was later renamed as the Chickasaw National Recreation Area. The history of the park will be put on display for guests to see at the event Saturday in a 40 by 40 foot historical tent that will be filled with park photos and memorabilia charting the history from the beginning to present day.
Other activities will include musical entertainment, storytellers, food and games. Miss Oklahoma Jennifer Warren will also be on hand, along with a mystery guest, to kick off the rededication ceremony at 1:30 p.m.

11 a.m. - 5 p.m.: Memories and History tent
11 a.m. - 1 p.m.: Musical entertainment begins at Bromide Pavilion, including Pannell Sisters, Steve Wooten, Mike Manning, Bayou Bottom Boys, Debbie Henning and Trish Henning.
1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Rededication Ceremony at Bromide Pavilion with speakers including, Miss Oklahoma Jennifer Warren, Mystery Guest Speaker, SASO Choir and the Sandy Creek Band.
2:30 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.: Songwriters from 2005 Songwriter Festival, including Brenda Darnell, Preston Edgar, David Johnson, Jean Crawford, Gary Fullerton and Dawn Anita Plumlee.
3:15 p.m. - 3:35 p.m.: Chickasaw Nation Dance Troupe
3:40 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.: Songwriters from 2005 Songwriter Festival: Debbie Hennings, Kent Dakour, Steve Wooten, Sylvia Urech and Denny Spradling.
4:20 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.: Territory Teller Bonnie Smith.
4:40 p.m. - 5:10 p.m.: Local Access with Gary Fuller.
5:15 p.m. - 5:25 p.m.: Storyteller Connie Fisher.
5:35 p.m. - 6:05 p.m.: Rock Creek Band.
6:15 p.m. - 6:45 p.m.: Sandy Creek Band.
7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.: Les Gilliam (Oklahoma Balladeer)
