Students at Konawa Public Schools are currently preparing care packages for overseas veterans for Christmas.
Headed by elementary music teacher Kerry Sharp, the packages should arrive in time to spread some Christmas cheer.
“We’re just sending supplies that they need overseas and hopefully they’ll get it by Christmas time,” Sharp said. She said the packages will be going to a unit with several soldiers currently in the hospital.
“It is our hope that these soldiers know they are not forgotten,” a press release from Sharp said. To donate items, take them to the Konawa elementary office by Nov. 30.
Sharp said several items are needed, including gum, nerf footballs, drink mixes, travel-size toiletries and card games.
