STRATFORD — Stratford’s 34th Annual Peach Festival takes place from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Stratford City Park. A variety of activities, entertainment food and peach treats are in store for those attending Saturday’s event.
A free pancake breakfast from 6:30-8:30 a.m. gets things started.
Gates open at 8:30 a.m. for entries into the Peach Festival car show. Cash prizes will be awarded to vehicles that exhibit the best in show, most likely to get a ticket, best custom truck and mayor’s choice. Car show classes include Muscle Cars 1962-1971, Muscle Cars 1971-Present, original pickups, modified pickups, special interest, sport compact cars, sport mini-trucks, 1920s and 1930s Street Rods, 1940s and 1950s Street Rods, 1960s to present Street Rods, 1920s-1930s original, 1940s to 1950s original and 1960s to present original.
Area chefs wishing to show off their skills at cooking with peaches will have an opportunity to participate in a peach cook off from 9:30-10 a.m.
Other activities and games begin at 9:30 a.m., including hay toss, best dressed animal and ugly dog contests, sack races for children, peach judging and auction, water balloon toss, money in the haystack, three-legged team races for adults, hula-hoop contest, Frisbee throw, decorated turtle and turtle races.
Final performances for the Peach Idol 2010 competition starts and 10 a.m. and Peach Royalty crowning begins at noon.
Peach ice cream will be for sale throughout the day at the Stratford Chamber of Commerce booth.
Stratford’s 75th annual rodeo finishes off the festival events at 8 p.m.
