STONEWALL — Bright Star Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 113, Stonewall, conducted a fund-raising Ham and Beans Supper benefiting Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department. A check for $7,270 was presented to the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department.

“Everyone recognizes that this unusual fire season has stretched the budgets of fire departments everywhere, and in particular the budgets of small volunteer departments like that of Stonewall. The Lodge felt that the local fire department could use help in this stressful time,” Ed Cameron, lodge spokesman, said.

“The Stonewall Fire Department consists of friends and neighbors who take their time and effort to help the community. The Masonic Lodge wants to offer its assistance and gratitude in return,” said Tony Sexton, lodge master.

The Masonic Lodge has existed in Stonewall since 1896, and in the past 110 years has conducted many activities in support of the Stonewall community, including sponsoring collegiate scholarships, providing blindness prevention programs, sponsoring essay contests in public schools, and offering recognition of local teachers and students.

Stonewall Masonic Lodge, Lodge meets on the first and third Monday nights of the month north of the Malt Shop in Stonewall.
