ADA — Cash and science-related prizes will be awarded to the top high school and junior high school science students in statewide competitions Thursday through Saturday at East Central University.

Students will present their research projects at the Oklahoma State Science and Engineering Fair and their research papers at the Oklahoma Junior Academy of Science state meeting. Both are held annually at ECU.

The Science and Engineering Fair will have approximately 250 projects created by junior high and high school students. The exhibits will be set up Thursday in Kerr Activities Center and will be judged throughout the day Friday. The exhibits can be viewed from 6-10 p.m. Thursday and from 6:30-10 p.m. Friday.

The OJAS competition will have 57 students from 22 schools who will begin presenting their research papers at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Physical and Environmental Sciences Center. The presentations will continue from 8-9:30 a.m. Friday. The research papers were certified for the state competition at regional competitions in February and March.

A number of the OJAS competitors also have entries in the science and engineering fair.

A special awards dinner for the Science and Engineering Fair entrants will be held Friday night in Taff Cafeteria. Certificates, medals, trophies, cash prizes and other awards for the best projects and research papers will be presented at a ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in the Dorothy Summers Theatre.
