ADA— An Ada man charged with the first degree felony murder of 16-year-old Cougar Color Guard member Caitlin Wooten, was formally arraigned Tuesday morning and remains in Pontotoc County Jail, despite a fourth bail request.

Faye Francis Sliger, 51, appeared in court before District Judge Thomas S. Landrith and pleaded not guilty to the murder charge filed against him. Sliger was charged last fall in connection with the September abduction and murder of Wooten by his friend, Jerry Don Savage. The prosecution alleges Sliger aided Savage in Wooten's abduction during which time she was shot and killed by Savage, who then committed suicide.

After the presentation of the state's case against Sliger at his Dec. 12 preliminary hearing, Judge John D. Miller found probable cause to proceed with a trial and withheld bail based on the evidence presented.

Tuesday, Sliger's bond request was again denied and he remains incarcerated awaiting his upcoming trial.
