ADA — Pontotoc County Adult Day Care Center will host a special event for area seniors Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Irving Community Center at 4th and Oak, to provide information on Medicare prescription drug coverage and personal assistance to apply on site through Medicare and Social Security Administration representatives for extra help in paying for their prescription drug coverage.

Pontotoc County Adult Day Care Center (PCADC) is the area’s only Adult Day Service center, providing approximately 4000 service days per year to the frail elderly and elderly disabled in the community. PCADC is a member of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) and the National Adult Day Services Association (NADSA), which are working with their local members to hold similar events throughout the nation.

“We are especially pleased to be able to provide this kind of information and service to not only our clients, but to the community at large,” stated Donna, Bennett, Director. “We know that a large number of seniors in our area want to know more about the Medicare drug coverage and which plan best meets their own individual needs. We also know that many of them may not know that they could possibly qualify to get extra help to pay for those prescription drugs. That’s why we’ve joined with Social Security to make it as easy as possible for people to determine if they qualify and fill out the application for extra help right on the spot.”
