A semi truck crashed into a horse-drawn carriage Wednesday evening killing four people and injuring one.

The crash occurred in Pittsburg County near the town of Quinton. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Mike Stafford said 38-year-old Paul Ogden of Quinton was driving the buggy down the middle of State Highway 31 when it was hit from behind by a 2006 Peterbilt semi driven by Marvin Bowen, 38, Foyil.

Both vehicles ran off the road to the right after the crash. Paul Ogden and three passengers, 28-year-old Lee Ogden, 4-year-old Emma Ogden and 5-year-old Meckennen Ogden, all of Quinton, were thrown more than 40 feet from the buggy.

All four died at the scene of massive injuries. Another passenger on the buggy, 18-year-old Colby Finch, also thrown more than 40 feet, was taken by Eagle Med to St. Francis Medical Center in Tulsa and admitted in critical condition with head injuries.

Stafford said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
