LATTA — The Oklahoma Association for Serving Impacted Schools (OASIS) has announced the winners of the scholarships to eligible students in each congressional ditrict.

The one-time, $1,000.00 scholarships was awarded specifically to Quinton Scott of Latta HS in the name of Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole.

Scholarship winners were selected from eligible school districts within each congressional district. School districts meet eligibility through membership in OASIS, and students are eligible by being a graduating senior in 2006, an eligible Impact Aid students and future enrollment in an Okalhoma institution of higher learning.

As a part of the application the students were asked to prepare a mini essay entitled “If I Were President of the United States, I would...”, plus the completion “If I Were President of the United States, I Would...”, plus the completion of various questions including the listing of school and community activities, and two personal recommendations.

His entry was selected by an independent panel of retired teachers.

The scholarship will be presented to Quinton May 19. He will be attending Hillsdale College in the fall of 2006.

Scott is the son of Ronald and Angela Scott.
