ROFF — Bobbie Sawyers has been named Roff Schools Teacher of the Year.

Sawyers is a graduate of Purcell High School and received degrees in physical education and elementary education from East Central University.

She has taught for 17 years at Roff Schools.  Over the past 17 years she has taught  eighth grade social studies, eighth grade reading and writing, first through eighth grade art, first through fourth grade physical education, fifth and sixth grade math, English, writing, and reading and fourth grade reading. 

She also has lead Tricky Tigers, coordinated Jump Rope for Heart, organized Tiger Olympics, coached fifth through eighth grades Academic Teams, served as president for Roff Classroom Teachers Organization, and helped teach science activities at Camp Goddard Youth Camp.

She and Steven Sawyers have two children, Wyatt, 14, and Maggie, 9. 

Sawyers enjoys camping and swimming, reading all kinds of genres, and walking in the park. She attends Lovelady Baptist Church and teaches seventh and eighth grade Sunday School classes.  Bobbie’s hopes and goals are for her students to be challenged to work hard and do their best, have a love for learning, and to be an encourager to others around them.
