The Primetimers met on Oct. 4 in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church.

Don Parham welcomed everyone and thanked the cooks for preparing the meal.

Charlie Hale led the opening prayer.

The tables were decorated in a fall theme by Betty Turnipseed, Freda Bernard and Shirley Spinks.

Joyce Carlson introduced the Woodcarvers of McAlester, Claus Carlson and Cliff and Kim Pittner. They had on display some of their pieces, and you can also see some of their work at the Southeastern Oklahoma Art Building.

Cliff Pittner told how the group started in 1988 with four members and now the group has grown to 12. He explained that it’s not a talent you’re born with but have to learn in an ABC progression. He explained the different forms of woodcarving: the realistic form, caricatures, low relief and high relief ( which is the 3-D appearance).

They meet the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Baker Building at the Vo-Tech.

Celebrating birthdays this month are Shirley Spinks, Kathy Thornton, Carlene Swanson, Shirley Brasswell and Sharon Wilson.
