ADA — Pontotoc Technology Center Practical Nursing Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) chapter recently elected their officers. HOSA is a national organization for students who are enrolled in health occupations education. HOSA offers students the opportunity to develop leadership and professional skills to be used in the medical field.

At the beginning of each class year, HOSA officer elections are held.

The January 2006 Practical Nursing Class HOSA officers are Bridget Dalton, president; Monica Koontz, vice president; Stephanie Houston, secretary; Misty Stevens, treasurer; Bambi Denton, reporter; Janice Morrison, historian; and DeAngela Hicks, inspirational leader.

The August 2006-2007 Practical Nursing Class HOSA officers are Shiela Bennett, president; Paige Palmer, vice president; April Williams, secretary; Staci Welch, treasurer; Leslie Paddock, reporter; Dehnna Hickey, historian; Tara Glover, parliamentarian; Anetra Morales, sentinel; and Alexandria Shelton, inspirational leader.

The 16 HOSA officers from the practical nursing program and 14 HOSA officers from the health careers class at Pontotoc Technology Center joined 3,200 student leaders and advisors form across the state at the 2006 HOSA and BPA Fall Conference, held at the Oklahoma City Clarion Hotel Oct. 10.

The joint fall conference is held for local chapter officer training and to elect state officers for two of the seven Oklahoma Career Tech student organizations. HOSA boasts 4,372 members in 240 local chapters. Oklahoma HOSA was formed in 1974.
