ADA — As the holiday shopping season approaches, the Ada Police Department is asking citizens to park their vehicles responsibly and to avoid the misuse of parking spots designated for the handicapped.

Vehicles parked in handicapped-accessible spots should be accompanied by visible identification such as a handicapped-designated sticker or placard. Violators may be subject to a fine of $160 plus court costs.

“Please don’t let the lure of a convenient parking spot cause you to violate the law,” Said Ada Police Assistant Chief Carl Allen. “If the prospect of a large fine doesn’t deter you,” then please consider that you are taking a place form someone who truly needs it.”

Ada Police will be patrolling public handicapped parking spots throughout the city. All private lots with handicapped parking spots will also be patrolled.
