ADA — OBI “Holiday Happenings” basically means “Food for Thoughtfulness”! OBI will be providing breakfast and lunch for all blood donors who make time to give the gift of life at any of its blood centers through Jan. 6.

The week before Christmas through the New Year’s holiday is historically a critical time for the blood supply. Need for blood goes up while blood donations go down. OBI can only sustain community blood supplies with the support of generous voluntary blood donors to ensure that every patient gets the blood they need.

Sponsors say blood donors will enjoy tasty food and receive a free long-sleeved 2007 OBI/Oklahoma Commemorative shirt. Every donor will earn double Members for Life points for use in the OBI online store and can register to win a sporty new SKY from Bob Moore Saturn. Plus, every donor will receive free health checks including readings on body temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate and cholesterol and iron levels.

“OBI needs blood donors now to make sure that holiday emergencies don’t deplete community blood supplies,” said Ronald O. Gilcher, M.D., FACP, OBI President, CEO and Medical Director. “We are appreciative of all our loyal donors for helping us make sure our hospitals are prepared with sufficient blood on the shelves.”

East Central Oklahoma Blood Institute is located at 900 N. Mississippi, Ada. Phone (580) 436-0384 or (800) 858-8296 for more information.
