ADA — Latricia Bryant, executive director of Ada Regional United Way, recently announced receipt of a $15,000 grant from the Noble Foundation to purchase computers for use in the 2-1-1 of Southeastern Oklahoma call center. 2-1-1 of Southeastern Oklahoma operates under the oversight of Ada Regional United Way.

The Call Center has been in operation since February 2006 and began operation using donated computers, which were not always reliable to provide the 24/7 coverage needed. Due to growth within 2-1-1 of Southeastern Oklahoma it was necessary to acquire new computers with the capability of supporting complicated database software as well as allowing the caller to receive information in a timelier manner.

Almost half a million people in 21 counties in Southeastern Oklahoma are able to call 2-1-1 for information and referral on a variety of health and human services issues.

"The generous donation from the Noble Foundation will allow 2-1-1 of Southeastern Oklahoma to continue to expand and provide accurate and timely referrals to 2-1-1 callers," Bryant said.
