ADA — Rumors are circulating that Ada’s Dunlaps department store is closing. However, there has yet to be an official announcement of what the future holds for the store and its employees.

There is evidence that local Dunlap’s customers could be forced to take their money elsewhere. The clothing company is conducting a store-wide sale where everything is marked 20-40 percent off.

“When I walked in I thought it looks like they are fixing to go out of business,” said Ada shopper Pat Morgan. “But I haven’t heard anything.”

Ada store manager David Prescott would not comment on whether or not the store was going out of business, the store-wide sale does not look promising.

“I got a phone call from my daughter saying they were going out of business and there were some really good bargains,” said Phyllis Inslee, Ada.

According to published reports, Dunlaps is closing many of its stores as part of a companywide liquidation.

Although there has been no “official” word from the store’s Fort Worth, Texas, home office, many customers said store employees told them the store was closing.
