Cooking School for Kids scheduled
ADA — Oklahoma State University Extension Center staff hosts a two-day cooking school from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. July 22-23 at the Pontotoc County OSU Extension office, 1700 N. Broadway. The event is open to boys and girls ages 8–12 and their parents or guardians. Cost is $5 per child and enrollment is limited to 20 the first 20 chefs. Students will be taught how to explore the food guide pyramid, the proper techniques to use when preparing meals, how to set the table and table manners.
Students inducted into society
NORMAN — The University of Oklahoma chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta inducted 342 freshmen students into its ranks during its annual spring initiation March 27. The chapter celebrated its 81st anniversary this spring.
Kelsey O’Grady was among those students inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta at OU. She is the daughter of Stephen L. and Jill S. O’Grady, Ada. A freshman microbiology/religious studies major, O’Grady is a member of the Oklahoma Rowing Team and Pre-Med Club. She has received the Rotary Youth Leadership Award, Kiwanis Academic Student of the Month and Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. She is a volunteer with Bridges Independent Youth Living Services.
Chelcie Hunt also was inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta. She is the daughter of Jack Hunt, Davis, and Leah Roessler, Ada. A freshman public relations major, she is a member of Public Relations Student Society of America. She was named to the honor roll.
Barton named to national society
ATLANTA, Ga. — The National Society of High School Scholars recently announced that Latta High school student Aileen L. Barton, Ada, has been selected for membership. The Society recognizes top scholars and invites only those student who have achieved superior academic excellence.
Prague Rodeo rescheduled
PRAGUE — Prague Roundup Club Rodeo rescheduled its 2010 open show rodeo for Friday and Saturday, Aug. 27-28. The show begins each night at 8 p.m.
