Major Craig Greenham is the new officer in charge at The Ada Salvation Army serving Pontotoc and Coal counties. Greenham arrived in Ada after serving as an officer for 18 years. His most recent appointment was in Jonesboro, Ark., where he served five-and-one-half years. 

Other appointments include Georgia, Florida, Arkansas and other locations in Oklahoma.

“I am excited to be here in Ada,” Greenham said. “I believe God has great plans for this area. As ministers, we believe that our appointments are the will of God. The previous officer became a newlywed in January and the couple was appointed to Texas where his new wife was already serving. Each officer has his own gifts to bring to a community and now I will bring my gifts to Ada. I am excited to see what the future holds for The Salvation Army in Coal and Pontotoc counties.”

Greenham said he is guided by Psalm 121. 

“There are many opportunities and challenges in Pontotoc and Coal counties,” he said. “With the ever increasing numbers of people needing financial assistance, we hope to provide guidance and encouragement through these difficult times”.

The Salvation Army provides multiple services including food boxes, financial assistance and summer camps, including music conservatory where youth are taught to play an instrument. 

Vouchers for clothing and furnishings are also a service provided in Ada. 

The Salvation Army works with the local Emergency Management System to provide disaster assistance to those impacted. When asked, prayers and spiritual encouragement are offered to those served.

Donations of used clothing or household items may be made to the Thrift Store at 805 N.
